He couldn't go in Game One.
He was ready for Game Two.
He is Jacob deGrom.
With the two-time defending champions down 0-1 in the series, the Nanooks turned to their ace to even the series.
He turned in a gem.
deGrom allowed just a trio of hits -- two of them to Michael Brantley -- and went the distance.
But the result was very much in doubt thanks to the efforts of Pennsylvania's Jordan Montgomery. To counter Vancouver's pitcher, Montgomery pitched into the eighth without allowing a run.
However, in that penultimate frame, the Nanooks broke through.
Santiago Espinal -- whose error in Game One led to the winning run -- hit a sacrifice fly to score Yadier Molina.
A 1-0 victory for Vancouver levels the series at one game a piece.
Game Three is Wednesday night in the Keystone State.
Sandy Alcantara will oppose the Marauders' ace, Zack Wheeler.
